Guarantee the Community Forums for 64 years

$4,628,000 can buy a lot

Last night, Council agreed to give Orica Australia Pty Ltd a $4,628,000 discount on its development contribution fees, see my earlier post.

So, what could $4,628,000 buy for the community?

The Sustainability Review report (just off exhibition) recommends axing the community forums, which would save Council $73,500 (0.04% of the total budget!) (see page 49).

A $4,628,000 contribution would keep the services going for almost 64 years.

And that's just one example.

Talk about corporate welfare!
